With more than 10,000 votes cast over the past 10 days, OpenACircle.com came out on top of the DEMOfall 08 'Best in Show' contest capturing more than one quarter of the total with 2,611 online votes.
OpenACircle.com provides free, permanent online meeting and collaboration spaces, called circles. Circle members can make live presentations, hold audio or video conferences, share documents and more. DEMO's Executive Producer, Chris Shipley, noted in her 'DEMO Says' assessment of the product that "this innovative Texas company has thrown everything but the kitchen sink into its Web conferencing solution - and it all works."
Top runner up companies included G.ho.st with 20% of the vote, Xumii, Inc. with 14% and Cerego, LLC with 12%.
DEMO.com site visitors were encouraged to vote after viewing each demonstrator's six minute launch video hosted on the site. The contest helped increase the exposure of the DEMOfall 08 class as over 200,000 videos were watched throughout the past 2 weeks.

Congratulations to Kyle Nelson and Andy Wilson at OpenACircle.com! I'm very happy with the results, as I reviewed most of the entries, and OpenACircle.com truly "gets it" in the online / web collaboration space.
Although the Beta version only works in IE for now, I've been told that a Firefox version will be coming very soon.
Go try it as I did - free registration, and your first 10 "circles" or meeting spaces are free. Live audio and video, upload documents - but the best part is that it records your meeting. This perpetual aspect is what really makes this a winner. OpenACircle.com calls it "persistent collaboration". For instance, we have a sales meeting every Tuesday, and almost always someone misses it. With OpenACircle.com's circles, you never have to miss another meeting!
Thanks for the well-thought out collaboration tool.
